Price per person, based on two travellers. Private 4x4 and guide — the rate per person drops for groups of 4–6.
The bivouac is the heart of every trip we run, and it can also be booked on its own — for self-drivers arriving with their own 4x4 (we send GPS coordinates), or as an extra night on any excursion. It stands at the base of Chegaga’s highest dunes, sixty kilometres from the nearest electrical infrastructure, and is dismantled every summer so the erg is left as we found it.
Two ways to sleep. The classic bivouac: wool nomad tents arranged in a circle, real beds with thick blankets and rugs on the floor, shared facilities, dinner and breakfast — tagine, bread baked in the sand, mint tea over the fire. The luxury bivouac: large private tents with hotel-grade bedding and a private bathroom. Both are lit by lanterns and solar power; phones charge from the 4x4.

Frequently Asked Questions
How cold does it get?
In winter (December–February) nights reach about 5 °C: thick duvets and blankets are provided, and warm sleeping gear is essential. Other seasons are mild at night.
Is there electricity and signal?
Lighting is by lantern and solar power; phones charge from the 4x4. Mobile signal is weak and only reachable on certain ridges.
Can I come with my own vehicle?
Yes — self-drivers are welcome and we provide GPS coordinates. The track from Foum Zguid takes about 2.5 hours and needs a real 4x4.
When is the camp open?
September to June. It is taken down every summer to preserve the erg.
